Redecorating

Well, after being in this house for only two short months, apparently my decorating is not satisfying enough for members in this house.

No, the stark, white walls are too dull and lifeless. There must be splashes of color.

We unknowingly enlisted the help of two interior decorators: Madison age 4 and Meredith age 2. They are good at what they do!

While sitting on the "throne" one afternoon, Madison decided to color the wall next to her. Several large splotches of color grace the bathroom now.

One of our artists took a black (yes, washable) marker and traced the ring around my four poster bed on each post. (While on her adventure she rearranged my swag above the headboard). Apparently that wasn't good enough so she decorated some of my bookshelf and finally left the marker, capless on my sink. Some nights I come to my bedroom exhausted and hardly notice stray, oddly placed items such as markers without lids. After brushing my teeth, I place my toothbrush back into the holder. I must have inadvertently doused the exposed marker and it dripped all night. It blackened my entire counter and then made some lovely black splotches on the wall and floor as it dripped slowly all night. I hardly recognized my bathroom the next morning as I crept sleepily in. It was such a new and chic design!

I am a mother who loves for my family members to express themselves in many things and many ways. Art is important. It is so exciting to see one's little chubby cheeked cherubs scribbing red streaks as they walked up the stairs.

After seeing this artwork with tears in my eyes, I went to Walmart with new inspiration. Locks.....locks....keys....deadbolts.... And now we have our closets with the supplies locked. My budding artists are dedicated to their craft and I know that where there is a will, there is a way. I will do my best to keep my ever watchful eye on these artists...but every now and then a crayon or two escapes from the bucket during color time and the magic begins!

From the tales of daily life from a mom of seven. Until next time....

I remember once when Kris was 5 he left some 'artwork' behind, and signed his name. Then he tried to tell me he didn't do it. lol.

A few weeks ago, when I was very tired, I washed my glasses in the sink, then got in the shower. Get done with the shower, and hear water, think it's raining. I open the curtain to find the sink overflowing all on the floor. I had forgot to turn off the sink and the stopper was down. It ended up flooding the bathroom AND going through the walls into the bathroom directly below.

Joshua has learned how to get the caps off markers. I found his artwork: two big scribble drawings, one in green and one in red on the wall yesterday. I freaked!!! But, wonder of wonders, the paint is semi gloss and they wiped right off with magic eraser! In the other house, I would not have been that lucky.
